This is the 9th year for the Tour de Foothills bike ride, now a Rock Sports event. 2013 brings the addition of the GMR Challenge; an 8.2 mile, timed climb of the renowned Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) for both the 62 mile routes and the Century on November 9th. This event also has a 31 & 62 mile fun ride for those cyclists that are just getting into organized rides. The 31 Mile Fun Ride is fairly flat but has a little challenge. The 62 Mile Fun Ride has the distance without the climbing and is for those that are ready to add miles but not ready to take on the mountain. These routes will not be part of the GMR Challenge.
The GMR Challenge is meant to be fun or competitive, whatever you make it. There is a 62 mile ride that includes Glendora Mountain Rd where the 8.2 mile climb will be timed. This route has over 6,700 feet of overal climbing. In November only, we have the 100 mile ride that will also be part of the GMR Challenge with approximately 10,000 feet of overall climbing. A Cash Prize of $1000 will be given to the King & Queen of the Mountain in each event and $1500 Cash Prize to the overall series King & Queen of the Mountain. You must ride in all 3 events to qualify for the overall KOM/QOM in the GMR Challenge.
Registration fees include event t-shirt, finisher's medal, hot catered lunch, music and vendor village. We encourage Pro's, Amateurs, Recreational Riders, Clubs & Cycling Teams to participate.
Registration is non-refundable and the ride is not contingent upon weather.
